ZEBASE is a database of around 600 generic optical design models which can drastically cut design cycle times. Rather than starting each design from scratch, the user can base his or her design on a proven model. ZEBASE covers applications such as:

Achromatic doublets Double gauss lenses Very wide angle systems
Afocal optical systems Periscope systems F-theta lenses
Air-spaced triplets Telephoto lenses Microscope objectives
Relay systems IR lenses Endoscopes
Petzval lenses Inverted telephotos In-water lenses
Catadioptric systems UV lenses Head-up displays

and much more! ZEBASE makes it easy for new, as well as experienced, optical designers to produce top-quality results quickly.

For example, imagine someone needing to design an f-theta lens for a scanning system. Rather than starting with a blank sheet of paper and evaluating potential design options, he or she can load up a design model from ZEBASE. This can then be modified for (say) a different wavelength range, different focal length and aperture location. ZEMAX's powerful optimisation and tolerancing routines will calculate the best system available to provide the performance needed.
