ZEMAX supports Gaussian, Lambertian and Harvey-Shack ABg scattering models in both sequential and non-sequential modes.

Lamberian, Gaussian and ABg scattering models

So now, as well as designing, optimising and tolerancing systems, you can also model stray light, scattering (using measured data) and irradiance, amongst many new features. Define fully 3-dimensional optical objects, and set refractive, reflective and scattering properties. Define as many light sources as you want, including Radiant Sources™ , and measure stray light, scattering, irradiance and imaging performance simultaneouly.

This screenshot shows stray sunlight bouncing around inside a telescope and finding the camera location. The telescope barrel and baffles both scatter light. The measured scattering of these components is modeled via the ABg scattering function. This background light washes out the desired, faint star image.ZEMAX 9 contains an unconstrained ray-tracing engine and detailed scattering models
