ZEMAX
supports a great deal of customization of the various supported
features. For example, the drawing options on a 2D Layout plot may
easily be modified to always draw 7 rays instead of the default
3. The modified defaults may be saved for each lens file and analysis
feature independently.
ZEMAX also has a powerful capability to generate custom reports which summarize the optical system performance. These reports may show any 4 or 6 graphics ZEMAX can generate on a single page. Any particular choice of displayed graphics can be saved as a custom report, which becomes an option on the menu bar, for quick generation of the report for any lens file desired.
A feature called
the universal plot displays a graph of any computed value as
a function of any lens parameter. For example, a plot of MTF
vs. decenter of lens 7 can quickly be generated for a tolerance
study. Once defined, the plot may be saved as a feature in ZEMAX,
which will appear on the menu bar. Using this technique, new
features may be added to the ZEMAX interface without the need
for any programming.
